Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an experiential approach to working with trauma. In sessions we will work together to identify “targets” or “triggers” to work with. We will identify the thoughts, feelings, images, and bodily sensations that are associated with your trauma and work together to process traumatic memories. EMDR uses Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) to deepen and assist with the processing of traumatic material. There are several different types of BLS including eye movements, tapping, sound, or different types of movements that have been shown to be affective in support the process of EMDR. Your and I will work together to find the form of BLS that is most supportive to your healing.
Having completed Basic Training in EMDR , I have received 40 hours of training and 10 hours of Consultation in this model of therapy to facilitate the healing of both traumatic and developmental wounds.
